Friday nights have always be held as "Let's go out" night for many people. This has remained the same before the technological age and presently. Regardless of it being 1968 or 2007, people still participate in the usual "friday night activites" like going to the movies or dinner out. Despite additional technological advances, I think friday night activities will remain the same.....

Except that you might be going out with someone you met via a new technology, or going to do something using a new technology. So even though you are still going out on a Friday, the actual thing you are going out to do is quite possibly a thing that would not have been possible in 1968.
